The Pokémon trading card game is a strategic card game (comparable with chess) played with decks f 60 cards. These decks contain Pokémon, Trainer cards and Energy cards, which will be used to knock out your opponents Pokémon. The one who as knocked out the team of the opponent first is the winner. Under the button Other info › Rules one can find information how to play this game.
Pokémon Organized Play is part of the worldwide Play! Pokémon program of The Pokémon Company international and focuses on two main activities:

Pokémon League:
The Pokémon Leagues have set themselves the objective to promote the Pokémon Trading Card Game as a game and have fun with Pokémon. To this end, we organize meetings where you can (learn to) play the trading card game by the rules. Players can participate and earn exclusive promo cards and at the end of each playing period a league pin. You will also meet there others who, like you, are interested in Pokémon. Regularly we see that players help each other with the various Pokémon games on the Game Boy too. If you want to know if there is a Pokémon League in your area, press the link button "Pokémon leagues" on this page.

For the 2013-2014 season there are several large (series of) tournaments on the calendar. That will be for the coming year the League Challenge, the City Championships, Regional Championships, a Premier International Special Event (the European Challenge Cup 2014) and the Dutch National Championship (the Netherlands) and Belgian National Championship (for Belgium and Luxembourg). For more information about these individual tournaments you can click on the link button of your choice printed on this page. This website enables registration for these tournaments also, under the button "Registration › tournaments".
Also Prereleases and league tournaments are provided by the Pokémon leagues. Who wants to know more about these tournaments are advised to contact individual (see button "Pokémon Leagues"). The Prerelease tournaments are announced on this site, but registration is done only through the self-organizing Tournament Organizers. Where possible we also announce the league tournaments in our tournament calendar if possible. The tournament calendar is updated regularly, as many of the other web pages that are shown below the buttons above.
