Championships



What are the Regional Championships?
This year four Regional Championships will be held in The Netherlands dispersed over the country. For Belgium, there are two Regional Championships. These are tournaments where players in each of the three divisions to earn the title Regional Champion. The City Championships are rated with a K value of 32 and winners will earn Championship points and the results will be used for calculating your rating. This is important for players to earn an invite for the World Championships (Learn more about ratings (click here) or Championship points (click here)). The Regional Championships will be held in November 2011 (2 in The Netherlands) and march 2012 (2 in The Netherlands and 2 in Belgium).

Tournament structure
Participants play with their own decks in the Modified Constructed format. That means that the use of cards is limited to certain series. Prior to the tournament, during the player meeting, one has to hand over a decklist and during the tournaments there will be deck checks.

Participants are divided into 3 divisions, dependent on the year of birth. These divisions are:
Junior division: born in 2001 or later;
Senior division: born in 1997, 1998; 1999 or 2000
Masters division: born in 1996 or earlier.

The tournament is run using Age Modified Swiss pairings, with a separate Topcut. The number of rounds that will be played depends on the number of attendants per division, performing gameplay in rounds of 30 minutes + 3 turns. Top-cut (max. 32 players per division) will be playing 2-out-of-3 + 3 turns in rounds of 60 minutes.


Don’t forget when you participate in this tournament
Take care that you have your PlayerID at hand;
Read the tournament rules, so you know what to bring to this event;
Have your decklist form (see left under the "Registration › decklist” button) filled in completely prior to the tournament;
Have your cards at the same follow order as you decklist for deckcheck;
Be at the venue on time, as those that arrive too late will receive a “round loss”.


Prizes
For the winner of each division there are 36 boosters of BW Noble Victories. The second to fourth place will win boosters of BW Noble Victories too. The second place will get 16 boosters Noble Victories, 3rd and 4th place four place will get 8 boosters each. The fifth to eighth place get 4 boosters BW Noble Victories each. For other participants there is a booster of BW Noble Victories. In addition there is a participants Regional Championships promo card (while supplies last). There might be some Pokémon goodies for distribution also (subject to availability).


Registration
Although the registration of the Regional Championships is open and officially there is no limit to the number of attendants, it could happen that the venue or the stock of prizematerials are the limiting factors. Therefore, to avoid disappointment, it is important to determine to register to secure your registration. Even if unable to participate it is highly appreciated by the organizing gymleague / tournament organizer to inform him of your withdrawal. Side Events
For those that do not make it into the Top-cut a side event organized may be organized depending upon interest. If a side event occurs is quite relevant to the organizers of the Regional Championships.
